So recently my asus m2npv-vm motherboard took a dive. ASUS tech people were telling me that antec powersuplies don't have proper -5v lines and that they are don't make a good PSU. Is this true? (not a hardcore pc guy, I actualy don't know that much about the finer points)

I have always bought antecs because I thought they were good.

Or were the ASUS people just being stupid and trying to waste my time by having me put a different psu in it?

The -5v was eliminated from the ATX specification in June of 2004........so they are blowing smoke on that one.

What is the problem exactly? What Antec power supply?

When I went to start up my pc after about 2 months of it working perfictly the fans kicked on the drives activated at it sat there. The monitor didn't turn on, no beep/beeps. I removed the ram and tried again, no beeps. Removed the video card and tried the onboard no beeps. Removed the CPU and tried it, no beeps.

I then took it to BestBuy (friend works there at the geek squad) and he hooked up three of their PSU's to it, same thing.

The psu is SU-430 It came with my NSK 6500. (the case is SO NICE)
