I purchased the Antec 900 case from new egg and when it arrived the 200 mm fan was broken . Anyone have experience in repairing this fan? I was offered free shipping back to newegg, but I really don't want to spend time taking apart my new build to return the case and then wait 2 weeks to get another case.

From a cooling perspective I doubt I really need it, but this is bugging me out of principal. It is like buying a new car and finding a large dent in it.
 
You can actually buy those 200mm fans from Antec directly. However if you contact Antec, they'll probably send you one for free and not bother asking for the old one. I broke a fan once and told them as much. They sent me a new one for free anyway. Antec customer service kicks ass in my experience.

It's that 200mm fan that was the deciding factor when I bought my Antec 900! Heat rises, what better way to get rid of it than a working 200mm fan?


Get it fixed, does the fan not work at all?
 
I called in asking for rubber grommets for my intake fan and they wouldn't even provide those (for an old Sonata I).

Strange. Were they missing? Or did you require extra?

Since I build "gaming" computers, most customers want a "Badass" case, and therefore the 900 is in high demand. I've had lots of things come damaged, and they've always been awesome for replacements.

That IS odd as they provided me with exactly those parts when I called, for free. But, it was over a year ago- maybe they simply no longer have them? I wish I'd kept my Sonata, such a beautiful little case.
 
I had one of the originol 900s that had the faulty backplate design. I was glad when they sent me the new revision free of charge without having to send the old one back. Now I have some extra parts for my case including an extra 200mm fan. still have the old case sitting in my closet, probably should throw it away as it is taking up much needed space and I have no use for it.
Only thing I dont like about my 900 is the noise. with all the fans on low I can hear it pretty well, but its not to bad that I am getting rid of it anytime soon.
 
This is great news. I will call them and see what they say. The exact issue is that the fan is imbalanced, causing it to hit the sides of the case (BAD!). How would I go replacing it? I noticed the plastic clips to remove the top of the case but it seems like I would need to remove the drive cage as well to get to the fan. If anyone has ideas, I am all ears.

They weren't missing, but one of the grommets broke as I was taking it off. The customer rep guy told me to go on the website and buy them for $6 :eek: Guess I was just unlucky..
