The plastic surrounding this jack prevents my Sennheiser HD555s from getting plugged in all the way since the jack on the headphones is pretty thick, and it causes buzzing.


Anyone else have this problem? And is there anything I can do without ruining the case?
 
A couple suggestions I have is to get a 1/8th to 1/4 adapter and a 1/4 to 1/8th and use them both. Or you can just get a headphone extension cord, or you might be able to make your own short extension with a couple jacks from Radio Shack.

I have heard of this problem before, not with the 900 but with other devices, if memory serves it was one of the Ipods that had some issues.

I actually have an extra set of ports for the 900. I had one of the early cases that had some clearance issues with the video ports in the rear and got sent a replacemant case that had no drive bays or side panels. The USB, firewire and audio ports are all on one piece that is screwed in from the back. you can get to it by removing the top. Theres a couple screws and some tabs holding it on, its a little tuff to get off but I got mine off without any damage. The audio ports aren't just plastic, theres a metal ring inside the colored plastic so it would take a dremel to shorten them and then you would have to worry about metal filings shorting everything out so I wouldn't suggest going that route.

If it is the Black Plastic of the actual case causing the issue then if you remove the ports it should be really easy to take a reamer or drillbit to the plasic to widen it out. On my case the headphone jack is slightly above the black top, but the mic jack is slightly below. you may be able to trim the posts holding the ports onto the top of the case by no more than 1mm to get some extra clearance without having to enlarge the hole.
