For those with the Antec 900, have anyone tried having all the 120 fans be intakes and have the 200 bigboy fan the exhaust? Seeing as the 200 fan moves a lot of air I'm thinking it can handle moving all the warm air from the case.

My HSF, Scythe Katana Cu, is pointed upwards and since the rear exhaust fan just sits on the side of the HSF I was wondering if I can have it as an intake too because the 200mm fan can probably move all the warm air anyways.

Has anybody done this? I'll test it out on the weekend and see if it helps the temps.

System Specs:
C2D4300@3.2 (1.4v)
Scythe Katana Cu
Gigabyte 965P-DS3 Active cooling on NB
8800GTS
Antec cyclone exhaust blower directly below and sqeezed tight with the VidCard
2 Gig Ram
620W PSU
1 DVD, 1 HDD on the bottom of the case
Antec 900 with the front 2x120 fans on the mid and top, 1x120 side fan as intake, 1x120 and 200 fan as exhaust. Intake fans have filters on them

seeing that the back fan doesnt have enuff room to turn around without taking my hsf off... im gonna have to take your word for it lol... also my side panel fan never fit with my scythe hsf on there...

hehehe I'll post on this once I do the changes and do more testing this weekend. Seeing some threads on the P180 that the cooling improved for some by reversing the direction of either the TOP exhaust or the REAR exhaust I think it could also work for the 900 seeing as the 200mm fan can move a lot of air and my HSF is pointed to the top.

I'm about to WC a 900, and I think this could work better perhaps...single 120 rad, I was either going to mount it in front somehow, though I guess I could mount it where the rear exhaust fan would be, and run the lower front intake on medium, upper front itnake on low, and hopefully the airflow will go in a J-shape from the front and then swoop upwards thanks to hueg fan.

Ok reversed the direction of the rear 120 fan to point inwards. It seems to have helped lower the CPU temp. ;)

Your temps are kinda high with the 900.

Well it is a C2D, and it is clocked pretty high. Those idle temps are pretty much what I'm getting on my rig with all fans set to low. (Including the 9700)

personally, I find aiming your cpu cooler verticle is a bad idea. it may exhaust good, but your cpu cooler will be sucking all the heat right off your 8800.
And if your only using the top 200mm fan as exhaust, all the heat from your system is going to be pulled through your cpu cooler.
The 200m fan is great, but I dont think it exhausts as much air as your taking is. Idealy, you want to exhaust as much as your taking in.

Thanks for the concern but the 8800 have an anted cyclone blower fan below it that exhausts the hot air from the vid card, and I have the side fan on the 900 giving fresh air to the Vid Card and CPU area.

With such a warm weather the MB temp is now actually hotter than the two cores at idle. Yesterday afternoon MB temp is 42C and core temp is 34-38C. I'll probably increase fan speed a bit this spring/summer time for better cooling since right now all intake fans are at low speed and the exhaust at medium speed (using vantec fan controller).
