I currently have a Raidmax 350 watt power supply and I cant decide wether it would be an upgrade or downgrade to go to an Antec 300

The system specs are in my signature PC #2

Why only an Antec 300watt psu? $$$ its within my price range if I had $150 to spare ill get a pc power and cooling of course but yeah..

I might get that one

For the PSU experts how can a bad power supply be bad if the voltages are stable and my only problem is its totalling hard drives?

Do you have a UPS? If not you should really get one. It really helps, look at it as an investment towards your components. Not only does it protect from surges, brownouts, etc, but it just makes things....well, you get the idea. As for your PSU killing HDDs I would think that it may be spiking or have you thought of heat may be killing your HDDs? What RPMs are your HDDs? I have had 7200rpm HDDs die on me due to poor cooling in my case. Hope this helps.

I dont have a ups and I dont think there were any spikes or brownouts as my other computer is connected to the same outlet.
Heat was originally a problem but now I have a fan blowing at it and it keeps it at about 100F the drive is a 7200rpm WD

I guess the other psu must be really crappy then if it can spike and do all that while my other computers are left unaffected.

a cheap ups will only set you back $30 and it's a good idea to have one anyways. wait for a sale at your local whatever store and get one there, shipping is a killer because they're heavy. then if you still have problems it's psu. the thermaltake one is ok, that's what i'm running. voltages good but not great.
