Answer to Asus P5B x1 PCI link width problem?

Did anyone ever come up with a definitive answer to this? I used to be able to go to 400 FSB on my e6400 fine, but then a few months ago it always started going to X1 PCI link width, and now nothing seems to help, when setting PCI frequency at 101 or something else used to.

Since I mostly game I just gave it a small overclock to keep my x16, but now I'm encoding stuff and need to overclock.

Any suggestions?
