I have about $400 to upgrade my pc, but I am torn as which way to go.

I currently am running an AMD 3800+ venice, 2Gb Partriot DDR, on an Asus A8N-E mobo, and have a Evga 7900GT. I mostly play FPS games and browse the internet, using a 22" LCD monitor. For now, I'm using XP Pro, but I would like to upgrade to Vista in the future.

So, I was considering upgrading my video card to the Evga 8800 GTS 640mb. however, would I be better off to upgrade my mobo to a GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 (REV. 3.3) and my memory to 2Gb CRUCIAL BALLISTIX TRACER PC26400 and my CPU to an E4300 and overclock it, and keep using my 7900GT. And hope, I could find someone to buy my old equipment, then upgrade my video card.

Thanks for the help.

I'd go with the DS3 + C2D + Ram, sell your old stuff, and get a 8800

That seems like a good plan, just make sure your Power Supply is good enough to handle the extra load.

So if you want better gaming, go for a vidcard, as your other parts are still good enough to handle current games/apps. If you want better overall computing and don't plan on playing any DX10 games, then go with the cpu/mobo/ram option. FYI, most games will still be DX9 compatible for at least another year or so.
