I've really tried to do this without help, but there are factors I'm not sure of. So I'm going to list my planned hardware for you in the hopes that someone will be willing to tell me how much power it's going to draw.

I'm not expecting the whole forum to rush to my aide or anything, but I've pretty much given up on working this out for sure myself. So thanks to anyone who can help!

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-MA790X-DS4
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 9550

SATA 300, 7200 rpm, 160GB HDD (Samsung SpinPoint P120 SP1603C)
ATA 133 250GB HD - other specs not currently available
Other drives:
LiteOn LH-20A1H (CD/DVD(DL)+/-RW with Lightscribe)

~500 watts is a safe bet. You could get away with a quality 450 assuming you don't get anything too crazy added in the future.

I'd recommend the Corsair 520 HX (modular) or 550 VX (non-modular) or a similarly rated Seasonic, Silverstone, Thermalright Toughpower, Enermax, or PC Power & Cooling branded supply.

Since you're using a pretty low-end video card, a good 300-350W unit would do it. I recommend the Corsair VX450 though, simply because it's one of the best fairly inexpensive PSUs around (although you could probably power your PC twice over with it).

Any good PSU with at least 18-20A on the +12V rails will be enough. I too second the Corsair 450VX, it's pretty cheap right now on Newegg with a rebate. You could also go for the FSP SAGA+ 400R as a much cheaper alternative that would also be more than sufficient for your PC.

get a seasonic or corsair in that price range.
