Hi there, I have just gotten into ocing, or atleast reading up on it :) Now I have gotten as far as starting up and pressing the delete key and then i believe DOS comes up? Is that its name, it is slipping me at the moment. Anywho that comes up and I fish around there and I couldnt find the CPU page or wahtever. I am not looking for a performance increase or anything I just want to learn how to do it on my crappy old system. I have a HP Intel Pentium 1.7 Ghz WIllamette if that helps. If you need anything else just let me know and I will spew forth whatever you heart desires :) Thanks in advance.

That's you're BIOS that just came up...it the interface that controls your motherboard and the basic power functions, etc of the components that are attatched to it. Eh...I think you might have to be more specific on what you want to know...just saying you want to know about computers is like saying "I want to know all about the world, tell me about it." I suggest that you just read up on manuals that came with your computer...also read the stickys at the top of each forum group...they ususally explain alot about what each of the topics are (Memory, CPUs, Motherboards, Overclocking, etc). It helps to have actually read everything you can about it and especially if youre very interesting in learning about computers and what not...I dunno...I don't think people are going to spoon-feed you info about computers or overclocking...you kind of have to have enough drive to learn on your own by experimenting with you computer and learning bit by bit...etc, etc, so on and so forth.

I must of come on more stupid than I thought. I know how to overclock I just cannot find where to do it. I also realize that my computer may not even allow me to overclock. Once in the BIOS I simply cannot find the Processor/CPU, can you reccommend any help or anythinhg?

I have also read up on a lot of information and such, yet I still find that the walkthroughs and such dont give as much support as I need. So if someone could find it in their hearts to walk me through this it woudl be much appreciated.

Well you're what I can think of is that your motherboard on that computer is proprietary...HP probably doesn't allow you to mess around with the frequency or FSB of your system...also you computer might be old enough were you actually have to open up your computer and swap multiplier jumpers...I dunno all motherboards are different. I have a feeling that you won[t be able to do anything to your current computer, but I could be wrong...plus all BIOSs are different...so I doubt anyone really knows how yours is exactly layed out...anyhow...I suggest messing around in your BIOS more and try to delve deeper to find this settings...if there is nothing there are probably multipliers on your motherboard, which would make it even harder to overclock. Sorry I can't help more

Yeah I found out that I cannot overclock my computer at all. But thanks a ton for all the help.
