Ok on a 4 pin molex connecter is it alright to mix up the two black wires? Or do the have to be the same they were when removed. I guessed that all the black leads were the same. So are all red, yellow, black, and green interchangable?

Yellow Black2 Black1 Red (After sleaving)
1 2 1 2 3
Then the same question with all the other leads (6-pin aux power)
R O O B B B

What if the O's were swithched like so
2 1 2 1 3

I ask becuse I made sure that all the wires look the same as they did at the start. But Im not sure if it's the "same" exact wire.

Wow hope someone came make out what I was asking and help me.

* Edit* LOL My diagrams totaly did not come out right! No idea how to make them look right.

Rgr. Have to try it out once I get home.

I guess the simple question I have is. Are all Black wires the same that can be used in place for the other. Same with the red, grean, Orange .......... I may have swithed two Orange wires in the 6 pin aux power conecter so all colors are where they need to be in the conecter but the same colors may have been switched. Is that a problem?

Yup. All black wires go to the same point inside your PSU. You can mix em up however you want.

Just don't mix up the red and yellow wires. Bad things will happen if you do.

BTW:

Red = +5VDC
Black = Ground
Black = Ground
Yellow = +12VDC

Orange = +3.3VDC
The rest I forget.

Ok sounds good. I was worried becuse Of the 6-pin Aux power conecter had two orange wires and they may have been switched with eachother.

mixing up the yellow and red can be a good thing if you want to send 5V to your fans rather than 12 though. Handy trick for those of you who can't afford a Rheobus.

heheh

SarverSystems, remember there was a thread a while ago with me arguing that you cant mix the two grounds?... blah

anyways, why ARE there two grounds if its the same thing?... wouldnt life be easier with only one ground?

Think of electricity as water. Now follow me on this....

The wires are the pipes, the water being the electricity, and the device being a sink. You have 2 (hot and cold water) 1/2" pipes going TO the sink, and a 1" pipe (the drain) coming OUT of the sink. What happens if you make the drain 1/2" like the inlets are? The water will drain slowly. But in electricity, it acts as an overload, and the wire heats up.

Make any sense?

No hard feelings. I was in your shoes once and made an ass outta myself quite a few times. That's what makes this place so great.

It's been my extensive experience that making an ass of yourself is the absolute best way to learn quickly.
