He's on the Flight Simulator X dev team. There's more DX10 info for FSX there.

Given the state of the NV drivers for the G80 and that ATI hasn’t released their hw yet; it’s hard to see how this is really a bad plan. We really want to see final ATI hw and production quality NV and ATI drivers before we ship our DX10 support. Early tests on ATI hw show their geometry shader unit is much more performant than the GS unit on the NV hw. That could influence our feature plan.

Some rather interesting comments there. GS being the main hardware feature that was added for DX10.

Already posted this in other R600 thread. Do we really need more threads on this?

EDIT: Ooops, you beat me by hours.......goes away and hits self with moron stick.

regardless of you finding that his post preceeded yours.. You looked like an asss for responding in the way you did.. thanks.. peeps like you are worthless! thanks again! hehehehehehe

Mmmmm, this forum is going to shit, judging by the quality of some new poster's contributions. Why don't the 2 of you go do a search on R600, and see how many threads come up.

You do realise I could have edited out my initial response, and you would have had nothing to flame about, but that's not the way I do things. I was honest about my mistake. As for the 2 of you, I can see you have made valuable contributions to the R600 discussions, and thus I am worthy of your criticism

Edit: Mmmmm OK maybe not new posters. Still how the hell does double flaming me when I've already admitted error aid this discussion? And look, I didn't edit out my original post again! Feel free to flame some more.

because it's fun?! who knows, you tried to one up the poster, so they one uped you =p even though you addmited yourself that you were being an ass!!

It's going to be very interesting with the release of R600

So SLI doesn’t benefit FSX much except at extreme resolutions with high AA. This is borne out by the review “Real-World Gaming CPU Comparison with 8800 GTX SLI”. This article proves at 19x12 or 25x16 with 16xAA on the Intel CPU, the fill rate requirement is high enough to counterbalance the CPU-boundness and show some benefit for FSX. And these conclusions are borne out by the community, see Note 2.

Awesome ;)

That blog is a truly awesome read.

A lot of good information to be had, in fact, cleared some things up for me in regards to the multi-core support.

I look forward to SP1 for FSX.

So we (us?) sim geeks can contribute to the [H] too :)

Phil is the graphics guy for ACES studio- FSX and MS Train Sim 3. He really knows his stuff. I think he came from ATI. He probably knows more about DX10 that any of us ever will.
