I have a slight problem and am amazed at my inability to know what the hell is going on. I am a hardware guy, software isn't my thing.
Back Story:
I was overclocking my AMD 64 a few days ago. I got it to a decent speed, about 2GHz( .2GHz above normal) and tried to boot into windows to test it. Well windows hung on the startup screen, so I rebooted. I reset my BIOS and decided to forget about OCing. Well, to late, I my SATA HD wouldn't boot. I said dammit and pulled out my old IDE HD and booted from it. I tried to access my SATA HD to burn my stuff off of it so I could format it. I found that it was corrupted, so I scheduled a disk check and rebooted. It found a ton of cuorrupted lines and files and 'repaired' them all. For kicks I tried to boot from it, it did, haza, but it lost a few .dll's so windows wouldn't load, dam. I threw in my IDE HD again and burned off all the stuff I wanted.
Current problem:
I have my SATA HD alone in the system, and am trying to load windows on it. I boot from my windows CD and start setup. I press F6 to load SCSI drivers, and tell it to load the XP SATA drivers. it say's ok, and continues setup. About 30sec after formatting my HD, it comes up with an error that a file cannot be coppied and I should make sure my Windows CD is in. The file is VIAMRAID.sys. For kicks I tried skipping the file. It comes up immediatly that it can't copy VIAMRAID.ini, and 1 more file called VIAMRAID.something. after those files it continues like it should and acts like it's working. I have never let it get much farther than that. Does anyone know why it is doing this, or if it will work after skipping VIAMRAID.*? What should I do?
