Just looking for a little validation, no I don't want a hug...lol...

Hello all I'm new here AND to the world of liquid cooling, so here goes…
I am in the process of planning out my next rig…
These are the components that I plan to use for a liquid cooled system.
Please help me make the right choices for the cooling system and or any improvements you can add, thanks!

Case: Lian Li PC-V1200B <--may change any suggestions?
System Board: DFI LANPARTY UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert
CPU: AMD Athlon 64x2 4400+
PCI-e/SLi Video: GeForce 7800GTX (single at first)

fine I suppose...I would just get a swiftech kit and call it a day...a lot easier with the same performance.

Not many people here have more information that you can't easily get...so I doubt anyone has had any new inspirations since the last time someone asked for a recommendation. :D
 
Not really the kind of response I was looking for...lol...but thanks anyway.
So now I have conflicting information, on the one hand I've read that one should NEVER buy a water cooling system in "kit" form, regardless of manufacturer.
And the other says that to piece together a system is the way to go...
Oh well...more reading involved I guess. I was actually trying to get an informative view based on what my choices for components are. Hence the asking for validity...Oh and thanks for the hug, in a manly, non-gay (no offense) sort of way right? not the biblical, get to know thee, type right???...right?!?!?!?!? :eek:
 
For your radiator. Go for a heatercore type design for better heat transfer. And im not entirely sure. but i think the T-type TT coolant sensor is only 1/4" ID so it will restrict your flow alot.

I agree with above poster. Get the Apex kit from swiftech.

The aversion to getting a kit that people are talking about is referring mainly to the all-in-one kits like the Tt Bigwater, or those "Watercooling in a drivebay" kits. The kits from places like Swiftech are basically DIY, but they have just assembled everything you need and are selling it as a package. That is why the DIY Kits are good options, because you dont have to worry about forgetting hose clamps, or how much tubing you need.
 
I'm going with DD prodcts, they have a deal on the D5 Pump and Blcok for $108, all said ad done I'll spend a little more than teh APex kit, but will also have a better radiator and block, and and GPU block....

if you get teh DD block ge the TDX not the maze 4

Not sure what I'm doing for Rez and Fill/Drain ports yet.
 
The only thing I'm having trouble deciding is which case to get????
Any one have any suggestions and or reasons for them???
I've been looking at the Lian Li PC-V1200B as a serious contender, but I'm affraid that the case may be a little to small to run a single PA120.2 (w/shroud) radiator and dual 120mm fans. I suppose that I could go with my original idea of running two smaller rads (PA120.1) mounted lower front and top rear of the case.
Another case that I've been looking at is the Thermaltake Armor Series Tower...I could mount a single PA120.2 in the lower front and be done witrh it...
The one thing either way I go is that I want ALL of the W/C system internal, I'd rather NOT have anything, other than maybe a fan or two, mounted on the outside of the case...
I just don't know!!!!!!! I'm so confused!!!!! Is that hug still available??????...lol...If you could please help a body out!!!...with the case selection please....lol....thanks again!!!! Great help and forums here!!!!
 
I think your best bet would be to go with the swiftech Apex kit and a CM Stacker. I used the swiftech kit and added 2 swiftech mcw55's for my sli'd cards.

It was the first time i watercooled and the kit came with everything i needed. Even things i didnt think of. The kit performed excellent, kept my 2 7800 gtx's idling at 30'c, load at 36'c. While my optie 170 at 2.8 idling at 32c and loading at 37c.

My 2 Cents.
 
In your list of components, replace the Maze4 CPU block with a DD TDX or RBX, or just go with the storm.
 
Ok, if you want to keep all your components internal then the armor or stacker would be some good choices.

for water blocks, since you are picking up a D5, maybe go for the TDX D5 combo for only 108 here: link

If you want the best, then get the Storm here for 75 bucks: Link

You dont really need a chipset block, but it appears that a regular Maze4 chipset block should fit on your board. I would also go for a Maze 4 or Silverprop FusionHL gpu block with some OCZ ramsinks too, should be much cheaper than an NV78. Other than that, the PA120.2 is a great choice for radiator.
 
Still have my eye on the V1200B...lol...
I like the way the case is layed out inside...
Power supply on the bottom etc...
but the more I look at the Armor and the CM units the more posibilites I see...

Possible case choices so far are
Lian Li PC-V1200B
Thermaltake Armor Tower
CoolerMaster Stacker 810 (?)

These are going to be the components that will make up the bulk of my cooling system.
It will be run on 1/2" ID tubing, using a T-Line setup.

DD12V-D5 Pump
Swiftech Storm, CPU Water Block
AquaXtreme MP-1 Universal GPU Water Block
ThermoChill PA120.1 (x2?) or a SINGLE PA120.2 (depending on case?)
The radiator(s) may change depending on which case I eventualy decide upon.
