Hey fellas. I build my rig over a year ago and everything has been great. Untill.. this morning. I was loading up WOW before work and also had a firefox window open. While switching between them my computer locked up. Meh, I figured. While trying to restart the computer would show the Bios screen but lock up at a random part. Once in ever 4, maybe, trys I could get the computer to load Windows. The XP loading screen would display, the bar would load, and then my screen would go blank... The computer is still running at this time, however.

Can anyone give me their feedback as to who the culprit is. My first guess was the video card, but, would that lock up the BIOs? CPU? Guru's please lend some insight.

I'd almost guess failing PSU, if you can boot from a bootdisk, run Memtest86.

EDIT: Let your machine stay off for about 20 minutes then try booting it up again. Could be a heat issue as well. Make sure your fans are pushing air, your HS fan is not seized, your HS itself is not clogged with dust, and that your mobo and other periphrials do not have a lot of dust built up on them.
 
I am going to take it apart now and check for dust, make sure heatsink is connected well. i hope not the PSU, since I splurged and got an Antec Tru Power. But, I won't rule it out either.

Hrm, I'd start with the most basic forms of troubleshooting. :) Check your data and power cables, and make sure your cards are seated properly. While you're doing that, examine the board for obvious signs of damage (bulging caps, burnt traces, etc). If nothing is freaky there, check out the PSU. If you have a volt meter, you can test it to see if it's supplying proper power. Hrmm, what else....

Oh, you could also check your BIOS settings. Something may have happened and set it up incorrectly. Also, the wonderful world of heat. Make sure the fan is up and running, and that you aren't overheating. Good luck.
