I am looking for a small computer where the smallest size is below 2" and the second smallest is below 4" (strictly). It needs to have 8GB of RAM and 64GB SSD -- if it's nonupgradable, I probably could squeeze everything down into 4GB of RAM and 16GB of storage but that'd be really ouch. So annoying that the NUC is juuuust a hair above.

Note that I might not be patient enough for the Via Eden 1.0GHz CPU which admittely ships in such a case and is almost as fast as an Athlon 2400+ from 2002 :D

Edit: I checked, the original post said "computer" not just board.
 
well, mobile ITX might be the solution (mass produced stuff if they make them), but I can't find anything for it.. good luck. Or do you have money to throw away? Then you could go for custom I guess :D
 
The newer Gigabyte Brix models are 1.18" x 4.24" x 4.5" if you could compromise a quarter inch. various AMD/Intel cpu choices, msata for storage, and up to 16GB of ram in some models.
 
Which is the same as the NUC size-wise.

Now, I found this embedded computer: 5.27" x 1.7" x 3.71" which is the right size. It's absolutely insane, not just mSATA but also 2.5" SATA in such a size. 8GB, tick :) two LAN, two HDMI... just a dream. I bet it's gonna be close (or over) a thousand dollars when it ships, though. I have expensive dreams :)
 
hm.. nice find, I once had an industrial board.. bios was pretty basic and hard to find updates for.
What use case do you have for this tiny thing if one might ask? :cool:

Also I just noticed - the COM port and the DC plug extend over the 94.2 mm (3.71"). So it's more than that from the case alone, with connectors (your 4" strict comes to mind) it will be way more...
 
Travel desktop is the use case :D so plugs / heat don't worry me, because when in use it'll have a lot more space, it's just the packing which is tricky.
