Another Fun One Regarding Routers

I have a computer with a linksys BEFW11S4 router connected to it. The router is wireless and needs to be wireless.

My problem is: The router blocks nearly EVERYTHING i throw at it. Some things it loves and just lets through: I.e Kazaa and Soulseek after some work, and now it likes mIRC because I set up port forwarding.

Now, to be honest with you, I'm super security conscious, so I don't need the router for the hardware firewall capabilities it has. I just need it for my network.

I know I can set up a DMZ Host, but the problem is...that doesn't work. I set it up and it still blocks everything. I have programs that are REALLY convenient and cool, if I could get them to work. Like Gmail Notifier and Moodlogic and stuff like that. I don't get it.

Any suggestions?

Also, is Kerio Personal Firewall better than ZoneAlarm?

P.S--I've even set up port forwarding for EVERY port in range, from 1 to 65535. That doesn't work either.

Take those program names head to google and searh for program name used ports. That should get you the information you seek.
