Another dead fan (AGP)

So I previously had a 6600gt, and hte fan stopped spinning on it. Fall 2009 I replaced it with a visiontek 3650, and the fan on this card just stopped working. I don't really know what I should do at this point. It's out of warranty.

Anybody know where I can get a really cheap replacement fan? I tried microcenter but either they don't carry it or the people working there are clueless (probably both)

well, you can get this cooler, its better fanless than the stock one by a long shot http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=RV-UCH-NNU1-GP&cat=VCD it works well, and later on you can add a 80mm fan to it, other than that i suggest ghetto fan ducktape mod where you tape a fan to the heatsink the ghetto form has a few of these if you want to take a look for insperation.

Make sure you ain't using the card killer drivers that Nvidia released not long ago. They shut off the fans completely and the cards ended up frying.

According to your post ur on a 3650 which is ati. You may be SOL with that 3650. However ATi I belive has some 4650s that were AGP also. You may want to look for those if you intend on staying with yout AGP rig.

I had a similiar card back in the day and bought a Thermaltake Crystal Orb cooler, used Arctic Silver Thermal Epoxy on it and never had any more issues.

Another option would be to search the perpetual freebie thread, or make a WTB thread in FS/FT. I would offer a replacement card, but the only AGP one I have is an ATI 9600xt 128MB, and I seem to recall it giving me artifacts before I pulled it.

Back in the day my Radeon 9800 Pro had a dead fan. I just bought some $20 aftermarket GPU cooler and swapped it out. I absolutely disagree with the idea that if your fan is dying that your GPU is next. That card it happend to me on lasted for a long time. There's no correlation to a dying fan and a dying GPU unless you overheated and killed it before you found out the fan was dead. In my case, I was getting a lot of lag. I checked the fan and saw it wasn't spinning.

buy that gpu cooler i linked to its 3.50 and works better than the stock cooler on a 5770 with out a fan, it will be more than sufficent fanless
