How are you going to connect up the 250gb harddrives?

You could get 300gb harddrives for a few bucks more.

Don't buy your harddrives at Newegg (notoriously crappy packaging). I'd go with zipzoomfly.com for the harddrives at least.

i agree with him... they wraped my raptor in bubble wrap :O and i had to get a new one thank god the next one worked... it was also in bubble wrap tho :mad:
 
Heh damn, I will consider it...anyways about connecting those, what do you mean? Mobo has 8xSATA connectors...unless i'm completely off track about something? :confused: (help?)
 
Guys, bubble wrp can't hurt a harddrive. hehe.
A harddrive is very well sheilded these days...no need to worry. I have ordered hundreds of HD's from newegg.com and not one problem.

Static is not the problem. I've heard of many hd's arriving doa from newegg because they don't wrap them up properly before shipping. From what i've heard, sometimes they wrap bubble wrap around the bare drive a couple times (leaving the ends open) then put the drive in a box with some packing peanuts.

yea..that's how i got my OEM Maxtor DM 10s. No problems though with them for about 9 months now

Yeah thats true but never had a problem one.
I run a talk show called geek2us can be found on google and we're actually going to test some harddrives out to see how much static/dropping/bowling/heat they can take before dieing. Should be a good video show. Check our forums in the video section soon cause I will post it whens its good to go.
 
daaannnggg..... you're really going all-out. but one question:

is there a particular reason why the extra 25mhz on the core of the x1900 and 100mhz more on the memory is worth $669 when the HIS version is only $519 ?

and zzf has the uber expensive FX-60 for about $20 cheaper
 
Yeah, I'd be sure to check out those HD's on ZZF as well as the FX-60. Both are cheaper I believe, and ZZF is generally better for getting HDs :cool:

Looks like a sweet system, I might be building one similar to that when the RD580 chipset mobos come out. By then the 7900's should be out.. so Ill make up my mind then. Of course I say that and Im sure Ill do the "Oh.. just wait another 6 months till the new tech comes out.." :rolleyes:
 
i would go for the 150g raptor instead and get somd Danger Den wc instead of the exos 2

My buddy just bought him 2 raptor 150's and there no where near as fast as the 80 gigger. Kinda sucks cause I was going to buy me a couple.

pricegrabber might save you some bucks... I paid $60 less for my fx60... pretty solid rig tho :)
 
Maybe it's just me but I could think of better things to spend $1000 on than a processor.

What about an opteron dual core instead? I've never understood what the FX series really brings to the table other than a higher price tag.
