Sceptre joins Viewsonic and others in this new class. There doesn't seem to be much info about any of these yet -- at least nothing comparative.

What do you guys make out of the Sceptre propaganda comparing their offering to the Viewsonic and Acer?

Sceptre 22 comparison

Will be offered at Costco for $300 (after coupon and rebate) which is $50 less than the Viewsonic.

Pretty impressive for $300, even if its a TN panel dithered to 8-bit.

Believe it or not, Sceptre makes a decent display. I had a 19" for a couple years and have sold a ton of them to customer builds...all of them are still working flawlessly, and these are on machines that either get left on all the time or get turned off and on repeatedly.

Love the thin bezel and the stand is fairly stylish also....don't know about the quality of the electronics driving the panel though.

Well I've had no tearing, ghosting, or banding whatsoever. And dsub input is just as clear ad DVI on mine.

I also run mine at 1280x800 and it scales to 1680x1050 nicely, but that may just be my ATI driver doing it. However I don't recommend 1280x720 (like the specs say is recommended) because it stretches everything vertically.

I'm also looking at refurbed HP f2105 (also at Costco online under refurbed computers, $300). Sceptre specs looks best on paper. Is there anything else about these monitors worth knowing?

Gonna use this for Xbox, and Xbox 360 in a few months. Monitor would be for just me at around 4 ft viewing distance.

does anyone know if this is indeed a true 8 bit pannel? The comparison chart seems to point that out specifically but you can never be sure.
If it is then this is a killer deal...8bit pannel 1:1200 contrast for $300...i don't know what more you can ask for.

Damn, its got a HDMI input :)

That alone makes me want to get one for the living room and the computer room :)

How can they achieve the 1200:1 contrast ratio? All the other 22" monitors are rated at 700:1. Is Sceptre using a new never before seen panel?

They might be using an adjustable backlight or two level backlight, in dark scenes (or a black screen) it drops the light level, in bright scenes it raises the backlight, leading to a higher on/ off contrast ratio. LG uses this on their "2000:1" CR monitor.

I don't have this particular LCD from Sceptre, but I have the X20 Naga III, and have been nothing but pleased with it. Highly Reccomended.

Just got October coupons for Costco and the Viewsonic will also be $50 off MSRP. So both the Sceptre and the Viewsonic 22inchers will be $300. Ridiculous.

May just have to purchase both and let them duel it out.

The Sceptre looks a lot sexier than the Viewsonic in my opinion.
The thin bezel and doesn't have the stupid speakers that are so hideous on the bottom.

The only problem is that I had a Sceptre X37Naga Widescreen that broke after six months, I'm not so sure that I trust the brand. I guess if I buy it from Costco, I'll be okay though.

I'm with you. Having the option to return it without questions asked -- anytime -- makes me far less hesitant to get one of the budget monitors.

yes costco does have a really good return policy, i think i might just get this monitor, anyone know how mucht he 24" would cost?

I was actually planning on getting the Sceptre x22wg-Gamer when its available later this week, but it stated on the costco advertisement that there is only a "1 year limited warrenty". Does anyone know if costco offers an extended warranty or some sort of similar coverage? What is Costco's return policy for LCD monitors? Im just a little skeptical because ive read mixed reviews about Sceptre LCDs. Some people say they're amazing and have lasted 5+ years, others say that theirs broke after 6 months.

On a side note:

Does anyone know any details about the x24wg-Gamer (price, availability) other than what's on Sceptre's website?

I'm pretty certain that with LCD monitors -- as with all their TVs -- their return policy is anytime no questions asked. Only with computers do I think they have something different.

I've not seen the Sceptre mentioned anywhere else besides their website and on the Costco website.

Wow! I want one of these. I have the x20 NagaIII and its been amazing. I recently purchased the 22" Westinghouse. Might sell my x20 and buy the 22" or 24" Sceptre and use the WH for my TV!

Heres little more info:
Sceptre 24-inch LCD X24WG-Naga official price in China is 4,999 yuan( $632 american- 337 UK)
Scepter everybody had long been looking forward to the 24-inch LCD X24WG-Naga finally made official the exact price of 4,999 yuan, which is a very shocking prices. Kuanbing currently on the 24-inch market, the prices of most products will be set at More than 7,000 yuan, only Acer 2416w in the below 6,000 yuan, and Scepter X24WG-Naga low listing will not set off a small storm

Man I'm EXTREMELY tempted by this, though Black Friday is coming real soon. Then again, with Costco's return policy... :D

anyone know if the Costco's in Canada will stock this? It is not listed on the Costco.ca website yet. :(

This has been out for a few days now...but i can't seem to find any reviews anywhere. Anyone tried one of these out yet?

There's a similar models appearing from Iiyama next month, 5ms B-W-B and 1000:1 contrast ratio. Thats the one im waiting for atm

yeah, I'm *really* tempted with that 24" sceptre coming out (...anyone been able to find a US release date??) for 630$ .... I might just break down and buy the 22" for 300$ at costco though...

I'd just like to keep this bumped, I'm in the market for a 22" widescreen sometime soon, they're much cheaper than the 23" and 24" counterparts (you're paying at least 2x more for the extra 1 or 2 inches)

From what I hear TN pannels are generally best for gaming, the 24" pannels while tempting seem to be plagued with problems (dells one from what i read) and also they're more along the lines of 16ms response time.

I also hear TN pannels are a lot better than they used to be as far as true blacks and colour replication goes.

I like the stand on this monitor and I also like the lack of speakers and the thin bezel, at that price its very tempting although I've yet to see one on sale available to the UK.

Not sure if this would the right place to ask. Anyways....

Just wanted to find out if anyone who ordered had gotten a shipping confirmation yet?

I got impatient and just purchased the 22" Samsung. Very happy with it.

:)

Ok, guess I'll be getting it on the 23rd. Here's hoping its performs well...

I ordered the sceptre 22 inch a week ago from costco. So far I haven't received a shipping confirmation. :( I hope the monitor is good. I am using the Sceptre x20 NagaIII right now and it's great. The 22inch caught my eye because of the price. How is this monitor anyways?
