i've heard that the aluminum (the basic brushed style) is laquered

is this true? if so is there anyway to remove the laquer so i can send it to get anodized?

don't worry about it , i had mine anodized and there wasn't any problems , i just gave them to the guy at the shop and they took care of the rest.

if you are doing it on your own, I'm 99 percent sure you will need to remove the clear sealant before you proceed with the anodizing, if your sending it out to get done, they will take care of it

Dude, there is no "clear sealant" on silver Lian Li's. It is a nontint anodization they go through, just like the black ones, but no color. Simply put, Hard Anodized. Enough with the urban legions

well if the aluminum is anything like the aircraft quality stuff used in paintball guns, it will have a clear anodizing or sealtant over it to protect the finish

and it will need to be removed before anodizing, iirc

and what urban legands??

ok, slow calming breaths.

The Urban Legend referred to is laquer on the case.

clear anodization, or any colored anodization needs removed before a part can be re-anodized. If a colored anodization is desired, the previous anodization can be removed and if so desired at that point the brushed metal can be polished or vice versa. The next step is anodization, followed by the dye which needs to occur before the "pores" are closed on the anodization layer.

so should i remove this clear anodized finish before sending it in, or do anodizing shops prepare the metal for what has to be done?

the shops will strip it before doing the new coating. I had beter prices with a local shop than some of those that you can send it to. If you want it polished instead of brushed that will take special arrangements since many anodizing shops may not do the polishing as well.

here's mine a long time ago:

did you re-revet the internal plates back in, or used screwes?

also does the anodizing affect the side panels from closing, since it does add a slight thickness to the metal chassis

I just actually today dropped off the skeleton of a PC-6070B for Blood-red anodizing. Very similar project I'm working on for it. Pics later in it's own thread.

if you are in the Seattle area I recomend ASKO in Freemont for the place to get it done. Bout $125 for the job

Is that the going rate, since I would contemplate it (something crazy like Pink just to piss everyone off) but at $125 thats too much?

Does that include stripping down the case or what? And how much for the whole thing to be done?

For the record, its the outside of the case that anodized, not the skeleton inside. Also, hard anodizing is different from normal anodizing, especially since it results in only one color due to the process. If you'd want the outside panels anodized, good luck keeping the brushed look...

Dam it's just..BEU-TEE-FUL..
Is it me or do you love the color Bloooo(BLUE) :D
