I've installed a fresh copy of XP Pro on a comp. The default sound settings have an annoying clicking sound every time the cursor passes over a folder or opens a new page. I can't for the life of me remember which sound effect needs to be turned off to get it to stop. Has any one got a bone they can throw my way?

There's nothing for Windows Explorer in Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Sounds tab?

I'm a Vista user, so I don't remember if XP had anything in Sounds regarding activity noises.

Look for 'Start Navigation' in the sounds control panel, I think it's under Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer.

Anyway, I agree, this is a ridiculous and annoying default.

Yep, remove the Start Navigation sound. Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> sounds tab, go down to Windows Explorer. It should be the last sound for that group.
