I am currently playing Oblivion Elder Scrolls IV and all its add-ons again. No mods- just straight out of the box on a Vista x64 clean install- nothing but the game, Vista and the needed drivers for video and sound on the machine. I am using a quad Q9550 with 8 GB of RAM and 2 of the ATI 4870x2 in Crossfire mode on ATI driver set 10.3. No overclocking on any components or system tweaking. All in game settings are maxed and all video card settings are maxed.
I am about 250 hours into it and everything was working fine until recently. I noticed while playing now that the effects of flames from fire, the dust particles from spells I cast, doors opening in game (while you are standing there watching them), and those elevator things in the Oblivion world take forever to go up or down. It is almost to the point where it bogs the computer down to do these simple things that used to work fine.
I am thinking that one of my video cards is failing in some way. Any thoughts?
