Anyone on Android phone upgraded to 16? I've been hearing stories that the new version will cause faster battery drain, overheating, and even frying your wifi card. I have a Google Pixel 8 Pro but have paused the update at least for a few more months until I have more info on the update.

Upgraded a Pixel 9a to Android 16 with no issues. I wouldn't be surprised if there were some early teething issues, but I don't think you'll have to wait months to be safe — just until there's a revision.

Pixel 7 Pro here. Upgraded to 16 last week. No issues for now. Didn't see a lot of useful changes.

if you look at the "whats news" it looks like a minor feature update more than anything.

Google is using Android 16 to start a shift from once-a-year to twice-a-year OS updates (one bigger, one smaller), and I suspect the transition may have hurt 16 as it didn't fully benefit from the new schedule.

Not only you, many users(mostly Pixel 8pro users) are delaying their upgrade as I read from reddit.
However, OTA updates are easily overridden with a fix. I believe that first update must have been overridden by now.
Meanwhile, in Beta 3.2, there is a fix targeting overnight battery drainage but it seems it has a sluggish roll out.

OK I got it updated. No issues to report. Makes you wonder why others are having problems.

My 8 Pro was updated to 16, yesterday. No problems. It was only 35MB, if memory serves.

Pixel 8a, running 16. Dunno since when, for a while I think, on grapheneos.

Pixel 6 Pro, 9 Pro XL, 9 Pro Fold all on 16. The 9s were on 16 betas since earlier this year. No real issues.
The 6 got it last month (I was hesitant as that phone has been problematic and is a burner at this point). No issues with it either. Other than the slow ass G1 chip but no update is gonna fix that. ;-)

my pixel 9a was upgraded to 16, it was 1.3 gig and took 40 min to dl and install !
wow.........
no issues so far......

Battery life is as mediocre as ever on my Pixel 9 Pro. Tensor still overheats and throttles charging after a few mins of fast charging as well unless I hold it to an AC vent to keep it cool enough.

Sounds like the Pixel 10 series might be a welcome upgrade if just for that. Hopefully TSMC's work on the Tensor G5 keeps it cool on top of running a bit faster.

Been on 16 since June on my Pixel 9 Pro. It's 99% the same as 15. No change to my battery life or anything like that. The only weird thing I've experienced is that swiping things up and away is super finicky. Some programs are more sensitive to it than others, too. Notably, chat and messenger apps. If there's any angle to your swipe, Facebook Messenger and Teams don't budge.

It seems that the gesture system of android 16 is inconsistent. I have heard of that complaint before. it could be that some programs are not fully optimized for android 16. Will you consider making a little twerk on the gesture sensitivity, from the system navigation in the settings??

Nah. It's fine for like 75-80% of my programs. It isn't worth changing any core setting for something that affects me like twice per day and works on the 2nd try. Wild guess, I bet it gets fixed in the next big update.
