AnandTech reviews G33 performance

Did Anandtech mention the crippling memory divider? Did they mention the crappy stock heatsink? (I only skimmed through it). If they didn't, I'd imagine that's why their FSB1333 only went up to 400.

They oughta do an overclocker's perspective on the P5K-VM and the DS2R.
 
I saw that review yesterday.

All of a sudden, at $90-$100 the MSI looks like a pretty decent BFTB.
 
The MSI mobo would be for someone not really interested in overclocking. Just a simple basic stock matx mobo that does do some decent overclocking. The thing is though that all three mobos leave out something a user may want. None of them have DVI which most HTPC users want. Short answer is none of the three mobos have it all which AT did mention was somewhat unacceptable considering their prices. The user needs to compare the three mobos very carefully to make the features he wants/needs is on the mobo he/she chooses.
 
I read it. I actually found [H] more informative about the ASUS and GB mobos.
 
Yeah right now there's more info about the DS2R and the P5k-VM here than anywhere else that I know of. AT's review is extremely late with the info. They have gotten an ear full of outcry about it too. I suspect AT's reputation took a big hit because of it.

Except for the fact that anyone building an HTPC that knows a thing about hardware would never touch an Intel IGP for it. It just doesn't compare to AMD or NV's IGPs. Hell, Intel's IGPs still don't properly do MPEG2 acceleration (if the G33 has it at all).

So no, even if it had DVI (or HDMI) anyone building an HTPC wouldn't care. As far as their concerned it's still AMD or NV if an IGP must be used.

Either way I'm very disappointed with AT's review. They heap praise on the P5K-VM yet they don't mention it's short comings (like the mem divider).

And their conclusion about the MSI is quite strange when 2 french members on HFR report very bad ocing result either with bios 1.0 or bios1.10!

What divider problem? There isnt one as far as I know. Its the DS2R that has a 1:1 divider problem.
 
GA-G33M-DS2R: no ratio1:1 fsb@333 with a c2d fsb800 (e4300 for example)!
