AnandTech DOOM 3 CPU and GPU Performance Question.

I have currently

Athlon FX-53 no O'Ced
1 gig of Corsair XMS Series Dual Channel 3200 pro
Abit AV8 KT800 Pro Motherboard
Western Digital 74gb SATA 10,000 RPM Drive
Nvidia 6800 GT no O'Ced

On their site that have a similar setup for their amd fx-53 test comp, just they have the ULTRA and not the GT card.

My question is, when they ran "timedemo demo1" to bench the game they exceeded 60 fps and reached around 101 at 800 x 600 resolution high detail

However, when I ran the same settings I just reach 60 fps. Is it my bios settings that is wrong? Am I doing something wrong? I updated all the drivers I have and set the agp aperture to 256mb in bios. can somebody please help?

I thought the game was capped at 60 fps. Maybe they have a way to turn off that cap???

I think maybe disabling vsync might do it for ya...

VSync is disabled during D3 timedemos....

go into your control panel and make sure that it shows that v-sync is "always off" and not on application preference. if its on application preference then it will have v-sync on whenever the application calls for it. this way you will always have it disabled even if the application wants it on.

the timedemo benchmark can exceed 60fps

but actual gameplay is capped at 60fps

remember, in the timedemo AI and Physics functions are not operating

Not that D3 has much of those which is fine by me, I like my hellbeasts dumb enough to run right up to my shotgun. Fun times.
