A friend of mine would like to trade me for my 17 inch LCD, with 450:1 contrast ratio and 16 ms response time analog ONLY LCD for his 500:1, 12 ms, Dvi LCD. He also wants 75 bucks on top of the monitor to make a "fair trade" per se. Does anyone think this is a good idea on my part?

Also, what are the major differences between analog and Dvi inputs, other than that it obviously is getting a digital signal? Will things be smoother/faster or what will be different, just based on the signal? Basically, what if our monitors were exactly the same in every aspect except that his was Dvi and mine was analog (and I have digital out on my video card)? Would there be any difference at all between the two, and would it be worth it to spend the extra money?
 
dvi makes a huge difference. the pixels are 1:1 instead of the signal being analog and being converted from digital at the display. the colors are usually more vibrint and everything looks better. what r the brands and models of the 2 displays?
 
He wants to sell me his LG L1780U, while mine is a MAG LT716s.

What does that mean that the pixels are 1:1 anyway? What are the other general differences between Analog and Dvi that are noticeable? Response time perhaps?
 
he probably worded it wrong, pixel are 1:1 in analog and dvi at native, no?

but in dvi, the signal is sent straight to the monitor while analog has to convert back and forth so loss of quality.

anyways dvi is more vibrant and clearer for me. and the LG monitor should be better than the mag.
