Pretty stupid idea probably, but i don't know much about the components themselves, only the basics(ie, what this part is/what better models of it are). Recently i was looking at Zalmans new cpu cooler design, and I was thinking "Why can't the fan be a rotating heatsink."
Throw in your two cents, I would kinda like to hear it(unless it's mindless ranting at me for possibly thinking about it."
 
what are you saying exactly? for the fan to be a heasink spinning? or for the heatsink itself to rotate? or what?
 
I think what he means is that why don't the fins surrounding the fan spin vs the fan spin to cool the fins. Is that right?

If it is then i doubt it would work because it would be too heavy to rotate. The fins need air to be pushed over them in order to be cooled via the heatpipes. I'm not too sure about this myself but that is how I think the fins/heatpipes work together. The heat is drawn up from the cpu up the heatpipes to the fins where they are cooled by the fan in the fins.
 
Sorry, what i meant was why can't the fan itself be copper and be a heatsink itself and somehow transfer the heat from the cpu to it, i found out it can't be done because of something about direct contact or something like that
