Amplifier software for windows media player?

I'm looking for a plugin for windows media player that would amplify the sound for my laptop speakers. I was using this program for a little while:

Problem is that it would sometimes crash windows media player or my pc. Any other good software out there that does this?

Can't the graphical EQ be used to bump the pre-amp?

I don't use WMP (there are far better options out there) but IIRC that can be done.

That is the same program I was having crash problems with. How do you open the graphic equalizer in windows media player?
