Amplifier for computer

I'm looking for an amplifier to use with my computer, to power a pair of bookshelf speakers + sub. I already have a sound card.

I'm having trouble finding one that has these requirements:
- Line out for a powered sub
- Headphone jack (that cuts sound to speakers)
- auto off, or an on off switch that is easy enough to reach behind and flip.
- Smaller than a traditional receiver

Any help? Thanks.

The headphone out on that amp is bad. Great speaker amp for the money but yeah.
 
Those are actually very good speakers. Sure theyre not pure audiophile quality but the double 5" mid design lets them have some very good output and so theyre great for home theater and games. Try to give them as much juice as you can. 100 watts each would push them right proper.
 
That pyle amp is not really all that great. I'd personally check out your local Craigslist or ebay for a used receiver.You'll get alot more for your limited budget that way.

A receiver might work, but I'd really prefer an amplifier due to the size. This will likely end up sitting on my desk, and full receiver is too big. If I'm force that route, I may be able to house the receiver in my desk, but I'd like to not have to do that.

Do you have any experience with that pyle amp? This isn't going to be a critical listening station, just games and MP3s.
 
you can potentially get a decent used receiver for that money on your local craigslist, but not one in a smaller form factor (unless you find one of the teacs i mention below)

i'd also recommend looking at teac's small receivers, but you won't find anything as cheap as you are looking to spend
 
Parasound zamp + zpre would do the trick. Maybe audiogon has an old one fs.
 
They are hard to find used. I got a pre and amp for cheap but that was years ago. V1 models. The preamp headphone amp is pretty good.

Well you could always buy the pyle and try it out. Worse case is you don't like it and you send it back.

I'm a big fan of chip amps. I love old sony gear, and it's fun sometimes but you're going to have these on a lot. A chip amp won't get hot and waste a ton of power like old receivers. Nor will you end up having dismantle it to replace caps and clean pots since old receivers almost always have something wearing out.
