i just got some headphones its an audio-technica ATH-M20 and im using it on my computer to listening to music, skype and vent and a little bit of recording with a condenser mic. will i notice a difference with these portal amps like the cmoys i have been seeing around. is it even worth it? sound card is in sig. sound blaster platinum.
thanks for the help

Nope. The AT line is generally known to do fine without an amp until you get into their more expensive gear.

Also note that these are $30 headphones...

Now if you were going to build a CMoy, it's worthwhile just for the practice.

This is the best guide I know of for building one. It has a detailed parts list and more than enough info to track down and choose the parts yourself. I like Mouser, it's handy for cheap stuff...a few things like the protoboard PCB are easiest (and cheapest) to just get from Radio Shack.

You'll need a few other things like a soldering iron and a digital multimeter (used to check for bad solder joints, circuit sanity tests). None of these need to be terribly expensive models.
