Hey guys I am just wondering if AMD's powernow technology is available in all their athlon 64 processors or is it just for the notebooks like the Mobile Athlon 64's.

Also is the powernow tech built into the cpu's themselves? Meaning I can get any motherboard and they will support powernow if the CPU I put in is compatiable.

If this is the case, do you guys know which AMD cpu's (besides the Mobile Athlon 64) have the powernow technology? I've tried searching newegg/zipzoomfly but nothing shows up when I search for powernow.

Thanks alot,

Reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to build a small form factor PC but am worry about the noise/heat issue.

Also how is the noise/heat on a geforce 6600 GT?

yup, Cool and Quiet. if the motherboard you use supports it, you can use it. it scales the cpu back to 1ghz and 1.1v, dropping power consumption to around 15-25w :D

AMD introduced PowerNow with the K6-2/3+ mobile CPUs. AFAIK, all mobiles since have included it.

actually the clock speed it slows down to depends on the specific chip.

um i just picked up the MSI Neo4 K8 Platinum and an AMD 64 3200+.....so will that work?

how does this benefit me?
