AMD64 and undervolting/underclocking damage?

I've recently been experimenting with RM Clock and one of my desktops (AMD64 3400+ S754 Newcastle CG-stepping). When I undervolted my CPU initially (also adjusting the multiplier), everything went fine...the clock speed dropped along with the temperatures as expected.

But when I decided to adjust it back to normal settings (stock voltage w/ stock multiplier) the system crashed (froze). After rebooting, I decided to keep the voltage much closer to its default and adjust the multiplier, but after attempting to adjust the multiplier back to stock speeds (with stock voltage), the system crashed once again.

After rebooting again, I decided to investigate further and found that even without a voltage adjustment (only a decrease in the multiplier) the system would still crash. So at the moment, I am unable to underclock/undervolt as I had done the first time.

Was there damage done to the CPU? :( Everything seems to be running fine after a reboot.

thats kinda weird... try reseting cmos and see if that solves the problem

I left the memory at stock voltages. Also could you explain what may have happened?

Bios shows the vdimm at 2.54V, I'm not sure how accurate that reading is but it's stock....

yeah, that should be fine then. probably just something in the driver got messed up and caused a fit. have you tried clearing the bios as suggested? :p

Not yet since I have to write down a few settings before I do a flash...It'll probably happen this weekend.

But before I continue this undervolting endeavor, is there any possibility of anything being damaged or stressed?

The CG-stepping probably doesn't undervolt too well, but the 130nm process should undervolt better than the 90nm? Or am I way off?

90nm will normally run at less voltage, but undervolting won't hurt the cpu.. if anything, it's one of the best things you can do for it

You don't have to flash your bios, just reset it by moving the jumpers.
