amd64 3500+ >= 3.4c ?

is the amd64 3500+ processor faster than a p4 3.4c processor, i don't wanna know why just yes or no! ??:)
 
Sorta loaded question.

Short answer: Yes

Qualified answer : depends on applications used. Games love the AMD64, content creation _slightly_ favors the Intel (due to software optimizations)
 
The AMD would whupp the Pentium in pretty much everything you do. Video and picture editing would even up the score a bit, though.
 
multi tasking on the p4 would be a little better with hyperthreading, but as stated before games love the A64, i just got a 3500+ and am loving it.
 
i am in the middle, the amd i buy the 3500+ and later when price is down i get a fx cpu, the 3.4c i already have the mobo for it. kind of confusing!
overall whats the best processor?
 
Its a loaded question going to be jumped on by the Intel vs AMD camps.

If you are going to do a LOT of gaming, the AMD lines have a 10-15% lead with games. If you wish to do a LOT of content creation (video editing, CAD, etc) the intel's have a 5-10% lead. if you are sitting there surfing the web working on Excel spreadsheets, you wont see a bit of difference.

What are you going to do with the computer? Answer that question and then make the decision. My decision was based on this: I game, I also wanted 64bit for my debian box. There was only 1 choice for me.
