Athlon XP has nothing to do with Windows XP. No need to change operating systems when changing cpus.

Yup, you can even run Windows 98 on athlon xp. It's only if you want newest operating system. XP is nice, so is Windows 2k.

Um, I think you may want to look into a new power supply if your cpu and mobo went out a week apart.

Just a thought

amd athlon xp is a generation of CPUs

microsoft windows xp is an operating system

i think one or both of them stands for experience

yea, they're two different things, you can run different operating systesms(OS) on different CPUs... i guess its pretty easy to get it confused

2K works just fine with new Athlon XP's. I installed DOS 6.2 & Windows 3.11 on my XP 1600+ just for kicks and it ran fine, and really, really fast :)
