i'm running my x2 at 1.55v @ 2805 with load temps at around 52/53 on stock cooling...

i've reading around and everyone is OMG! dont push them over 1.5 volts, i cant seem to see what all the fuss is about, if on stock cooling the temps arent that excessive whats the problem, i really doubt electron degradtion will occur at this low of a voltage and heat level.

whats the max vcore you've seen these chips run at, i'm aiming for a 2.9ghz overclock with a zalman cnps9500 am2 cooler as soon as i can afford it...
 
Well, how do you know your board is reading your temperatures right?

I do agree, these chips are made to run in heat alot higher than what most overclockers (even the careless ones) are putting them through. Heat does contribute to stability. It's not a "zomg you chips gonna burn lol" type thing, but over 55'c or so, there have been noticible drops in stability.

What are you using to load test?
 
i run my AM2 sempron at 1.7v most of the time.. on water though, with load temps ~35-40c :D
 
have any one tryed to run amd chips over 2.0 volts. with my expert i cant pump the volts all the way to 2.2 :D surely if i give 2.2 my chip will burst in to flames... right?
 
if you have a 130nm chip, it might be able to take ~2v for a while, but only if you can keep the temps really low

90nm will probably die within the day :p
 
i'm using dual prime (it isnt 100% prime stable) one core dies on me after around 3 hours... but then again i am using stock cooling...

i'm hoiping my motherboard is reading the temps right... using the epox util and speedfan and the temps are identical...

i wanna bump up the voltage to 1.6 but i dont feel comfortable doing it on stock, the idle temps are around 40...

so whats the max voltage you've seen (without flames) on air?
 
I've personally seen 1.6

I've personally done 1.55

I now watercool and run at 1.418 system in sig.

As I said, it's not a temp thing (I have a friend in the intel engineering lab who has run a Prescott at something like 90'c for a month straight... take this with a grain of salt, but he's a brilliant guy so I dont doubt he's "bending" the truth) it's a stability thing.
 
i got it to prime stable now at 2750 (dropped the fsb by 5mhz).. so either the mobo is fucking out of the chip needs more juice...

primed for around 16hours (still going) with the temps hitting 65... hmm.. cant say i happy with that! time to save for the zalman cooler, damn it... i would really prefer to get a big typhoon but that isnt am2 compatible...
