AMD Stream encoding

Since this is the gen. software forum I figured it would be appropriate to ask here.

I am new to AMD GPUs and I have twin 6970s. I would like to know what really good programs out there are great with stream assisted encoding that can handle mkv's etc...

I am kind of aware of Nividia supported software but not ATI/AMD.

Free or paid for both work for me.

AMD's own AVIVO encoder, part of the APP driver set, now. Though I don't know if it does MKV...
