AMD Still doing CPU loans?

Microcenter near me has an Asus ROG crosshair VI for $99.99 on closeout + $30 off motheboard with CPU. I'm thinking to pick up a Ryzen 5 2600, however it'll need bios 6004.

How hard is it to get a loaner CPU to flash the bios these days?

I would think since the boards that need it are still floating around NIB still.

apparently you file it as a warranty claim on the processor as " boot kit required "

The Crosshair VI can be bios flashed without a cpu installed.

I did the same. Bought a Crosshair VI with a 2700x, and flashed it before install.

I have the ch6 and you dont need to be able to boot to update bios as long as you use a usb drive
