DailyTech has a graph posted today that shows all the different AMD Phenom processor model names, speeds, cores, availability and so on.

The top-end AMD Phenom FX processor clocks in the 2.4-2.6 GHz speed range. Slotting below the top-end Phenom FX is a 2.2-2.4 GHz model. These two models occupy AMD’s upcoming Socket 1207+ and current Socket 1207 Quad FX platforms. AMD also has a Phenom FX for single-processor customers as well, clocked at 2.4-2.6 GHz. AMD further differentiates its Phenom FX processors with different Hyper Transport 3.0 clock speeds. The flagship 2.4-2.6 GHz model features a 3.6 GHz HT 3.0 clock speed while the two 2.2-2.4 GHz models have a lower 3.2 GHz HT 3.0 clock.

do intel and amd ever plan to clock their processor up again? parallel processing is great, but there are some things that only get faster with a faster clock.

not to mention that your typical user really doesn't read the tech specs, they go right to the ghz line and stop reading after that. athlons were faster than early to mid p4's but p4's still sold because their flat out clock speed was higher on spec paper

Well they have a bunch of procs coming out that can be plopped right into an AM2 rig with a bios update.

Anyone have the "technical" scoop on what the difference is between AM2 and AM2+?

Are there ANY AM2+ boards in existence yet? Or are all our boards deadmeat obsolete already?.... and I dont even HAVE an AM2 yet  :p

My trusty XP 2600 is doing just fine at 2.4 GHZ on a 400 mhz bus. I'm stuck on AGP but my XL800 is still pulling the load.

I'll upgrade to a PCI express board next year...if I need to.

yea... i really expected the clock speeds to increase here....

this is sorta a bummer, i want a really high clock speed single core.

thats all i want :/

Between a toss-up of proven Intel Core 2 processors with their one socket and potentially fast AMD processors with rapidly advancing sockets, I'm afraid I'll be converted back to Intel by the end of this year.

I'll not allow my mobo to become useless after a year.

Get with it, AMD.

mm... I like the looks of the AMD quad core in Q3.. I'll drop that right in my system. :)

Intel sells multie-core 3+ ghz cpu's currently.
However, the 'c2d' processors which run @ 2.4ghz, 2.93 ghz, etc.. are faster.
Intel HAS a 3.0 Ghz quad core, "core" based
server cpu.. just..you can't buy it unless it's inside an apple.

Intel has a 3.33 Ghz dual (6mb cache, wolfdale, 1333 fsb)

& quad core (12mb cache, yorkfield, 1333 fsb) desktop cpu coming.

Has AMD ever released a processor faster than 3 ghz? With anything that's currently AVAILABLE (yes, I saw the 3+ ghz in the original posting, but that's just the HT bus, not the actual cpu speed.)
