AMD Socket S1: Pricing and availability?

I recently purchased a laptop using the newest Socket S1 AMD Sempron 3200+.

I'm wondering if I would be able to upgrade to a better and more powerful mobile AMD CPU for this laptop when they become more readily available. I can't find much information on these CPU, like benchmarks and comparison tests. They seem to have been released without much fanfare.

Here's a little about them.

If the sockets are the same, then I should technically be able to install a better CPU without having to flash the BIOS on my board right? This is my first laptop and I am well versed in all aspects of nomrla PCs, but I'm a n00b when it comes to tweaking and optimizing laptops.

Perhaps someone here can chime in and shed some light on these new mobile AMDs.

I'm not sure if this might be an issue.

If I wanted to upgrade to a Turion 64 X2 Mobile TL-60 (35W) from a Sempron Mobile 3200+ (25W) do you think it would be a problem? Because of the difference?

The reason I ask is because my BIOS does not allow me to make any changes to things like DDR2 timings, speed or clock frequencies. I can't really do much of anything except for the more mundane option like USB support, boot sequence and shared video memory size. Stuff like that.

I don't want to spend a bunch of cash on a more powerful CPU only to have it not work or ruin the mobo.

If I recall correctly, he is not at all worried about the battery, as it will be plugged in at all times, either in his car or at his house..

They have even better mobile CPUs for this socket, but some of those go above 60W+. I don't want to push my luck.

It would be awesome if someone who has used or upgraded a Socket S1 Sempron could share some info, but they are still fairly new and limited to notebooks/laptops only.

Thanks for that link too. That's probably the cheapest one I've seen so far. I'm going to wait until the prices drop more before I buy. I'd also like to hit up some of the other forums and see if anyone from AMD or a mobo manufacturer can answer my questions.

I pay attention to S1 notebook and have same thinking about upgrade from Sempron to Turion 64 X2 TL-5X

I read User Guide of Acer 5050-3050 to think that. Buy Acer 3051 ( use Sempron 3400+ ) and upgrade to TL-56.
