AMD SB950 Harddrive config question

Scenario:
I have 3 SSD's. I want to use the small SSD for a boot drive in AHCI mode and setup the other 2 SSD's in a RAID-0 config, using the SB950 controller. However, it seems that I cannot have 1 SB950 Sata3 port set to AHCI and the other SB950 ports set to Raid. I can control Ports 1-4 and 5-6 separately. However, 5-6 only can manually be set to AHCI/IDE (if 1-4 are not set to RAID), but once I set ports 1-4 to Raid, 5-6 also go to Raid. Can I run a single drive off a raid port and if I can do I lose Trim on the single drive? I know I won't have Trim on the Raid-0 on the SB950.

Alternatively, would I notice a performance issue if I just leave the single drive set to AHCI and skip raid-0 on the SB950, and just use Windows 8 software raid to create the storage array? Using FX-8350 for CPU. I should add the Motherboard is Asus 990FX Sabertooth Rev1.

On Intel RAID includes AHCI and a single drive in RAID mode will be like being in AHCI. I don't know if that's true for AMD. I'm in the process of assembling a server with that same SB950 but will not be using RAID.

Just set it to RAID, do not assign the boot drive to anything. You can also connect DVD drives in the ports listed as RAID. If it is not assigned to anything it is AHCI of course.
