AMD has announced, along with lower than expected revenue, a restructuring plan to help the company get back on track. The company said it plans to reduce capital expenditures, cut discretionary expenses and limit hiring to save money.

AMD said revenue declined sharply quarter-over-quarter for its computing solutions business, with lower prices and significantly lower unit sales. The company said it plans to reduce 2007 capital expenditures by about $500 million, cut discretionary expenses and limit hiring to critical positions.

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to abandon socket 939?

Maybe it wasn't a good idea to count on aggressive growth with slower products and sharply dropping ASPs.

Hell I expected them to go bankrupt after their ATI purchase at least the company is still alive.

Personally I think a very close partnership of ATi+AMD would of been better for both compaines

one of the ones where they buy a large chunck of non voting shares in each other. the buy out wasn't the best idea, they could of created the same results with a dual stock buy out with announced partnership like Microsoft and Apple did a couple years ago, it did wonders for apple as well as padded Microsofts wallets in the end as well.

Ed's op ed,like my brokers advice and projections in january,is of the opinion that this is going to get much worse very soon.I think he is right.Forget about AMDati bashing, these are just facts at this point.A highschool economics student can see whats going on here.
