Hello

So my issue: My System is an AMD System

For Past 2 Years i am having alot of issue with my system it is not very stable and performance sucks so after reimaging my pc over 20 times i decided to go with Raid 1 with 2 SSD drives to avoid OS re installs.

Trying to install Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on an ASUS M5A97 Evo - AM3+ - 970 mobo with 2 SSD 120GB Same Size and model . The drives configured as RAID 1. No drives are recognized by W7 install, so I choose Load Drivers. I put the drivers on a USB stick. Install does not find the drivers.

Motherboards - M5A97 EVO

It seems sometimes i am able to install the OS and sometimes in Windows 7 i cannot install 64 bit AMD RAID driver so i can complete The OS install

In Bios The MB sees the 2 Drives as Raid 1 and in Raid Config both drives show up and Hardware raid which is built in to ASUS Motherboard is enabled under advance tab to Raid on all 6 Ports so any port should work and both drives are in Port 1 and Port 2

and everything seems to be pointing to AMD AHCI/RAID driver for X64 bit.

The driver fail load or get recognized

So i went ASUS Website and tried AMD Raid driver and it did not work so then i went to this site

Other AHCI and RAID Drivers » Recommended AHCI and RAID Drivers did not work either

I googled this issue and tried eveything i found but no luck , Can someone advise please

Thank you

hello this is the error

amd ahci compatible raid controller (c:\acci64.inf) no new device can be found make sure the driver files are correct and locate on the driver instations media

In the 1st line of your complaint you say you have system issues regardless of the raid problem.
You can not hope to pile on issues then hope someone has a fix for all of them.
2 things spring to mind bad mainboard or user error.

It is impossible to diagnose your system without methodically test each step and if your mainboard is broken there is no point in fixing software raid problems is there?

I'll ask a moderator to move this to AMD mainboard forum where it belongs

Download the driver from the website.

Then extract the contents to a USB drive.

When you go to load windows point it towards the USB drive and select the X64 folder.

It will find it and install it and should allow Windows to see the drives.

Using X86 tends to fail. You must extract it in order to use it. Make sure you have RAID selected in the bios and the drives are configured in the BIOS. You must select which drives to RAID by changing it to Yes in the AMD RAID setup(Not in the BIOS but similar) I have to hit Control+F in order to get into it during the boot process and select which RAID to run.

Failure to do any of this and it will fail.

Let me preface this by saying that I've never done a RAID setup. Which SATA port that you have your drives attached to makes a difference on my Asus Sabertooth 990FX. I use one SSD to install Windows to, and if it isn't in the #1 SATA port then Windows will ignore it as a boot drive. It's like it doesn't exist even though it's there as clear as day in the bios.

Remember I'm talking about installing Windows to my SSD. If I install Windows to say a 3TB conventional HD and the SSD is plugged into any random port the SSD shows up. I just can't install an OS onto it unless it is in port #1.

Maybe that will help you or maybe not. Here is a handy guide to installing Windows that I used to reference.

If you're having performance and stability issues, and are reimaging it with the same image that probably is not configured correctly, you're going to just run in circles and never solve your problem. Moving to RAID 1 is not going to solve stability or crashing issues, it will only help if one of the drives fail.

What you should do is use a single SSD in AHCI mode. Do a clean install of Windows from the CD (not an image) and rebuild the system from there.

If you insist on using RAID, make sure that the RAID controller you are enabling in the BIOS is the same one you are plugging into. Often times motherboards will include the platform RAID controller (Intel or AMD) and additional controllers (like Marvell). The SATA ports will be different colors, so read the motherboard manual to verify that you're plugging into the right ports for the controller you enable.

Hello Guys

Issue resolved , the main issue was the dvd writer was not reading cd properly so i used USB and install OS with no issue on Raid 1

No more DVD i will use USB only from now on

Thanks for all help and advise

That error can happen from a USB install as well. I actually have two install USB sticks because of this reason. What is weird, is when the error happens here using a USB stick, it gives a CD-ROM error. Essentially the image is corrupt some how and needs to be replaced. Just an FYI for the future.

Good to know i bought a 8GB USB from Newegg.com so i will keep 2 bootable USB from now on just for this reason , my other usb will be just data and softeare for motherboard and so on.

Your advise is helpful
