“For instance, AMD currently supports frame generation with up to a 2x mode with its FSR 4 technology, but it lags behind the modern 6x mode that NVIDIA offers in its DLSS 4.5 pack and the 4x mode that Intel provides in XeSS 3.0, which can significantly boost FPS. AMD's current solution uses a custom ML-based algorithm to generate intermediate frames using optical flow estimation and motion vectors. FSR 4 uses per-pixel motion and appearance, combined with motion vectors, to generate a new frame between two frames, resulting in a high-quality frame. This leads to a significant FPS increase, but it is only a third of what NVIDIA can achieve and half of what Intel offers. Therefore, AMD is scaling this technology for a new FSR release, and we might see a 4x mode or even a 6x mode to match NVIDIA.

Initially, we expected MFG, and even dynamic MFG, to be part of AMD's "FSR Diamond" update. As it is scheduled to come with the next-generation Xbox, we might see some of these features first appear in the regular FSR SDK updates. With FSR Diamond, features like next-generation neural rendering, ML-based upscaling, dynamic multi-frame generation, and advanced ray tracing and path tracing are anticipated, but we still have no concrete details on what AMD will offer. For now, all we know is that MFG with more options is planned to complement the standard FSR Frame Generation.“

probably something that'll get into optiscaler but i wouldn't expect it from AMD
honestly, I am thinking they are going to let valve bring it to linux first. would make a lot of sense with steam machine and the gpu they have in it.

It's already in Linux; just have to add a command to the game startup variables. I've given up on AMD doing anything useful for gamers; even Nvidia is doing a better job of keeping their old hardware up to date.
