DigiTimes, citing unnamed industry sources, claims that AMD will delay its Phenom launch until the first half of next year. AMD denies these rumors and claims the Phenom is indeed on schedule for the second half of 2007.

AMD intends to modify its process technology to increase the yield rate and frequencies of Phenom processors in order to improve the competitiveness of the CPUs against Intel's Penryn family, said the sources. AMD has already notified several motherboard makers that Phenom will now begin test-production in November or December, and will launch in first quarter of 2008.

Wow, if this has any value... AMD is in for a big ride (financially)

AMD really are screwed with Intel walking all over them. Not that i've ever owned a AMD Rig. :p

I guess it's Intel's time at the moment, God knows AMD had a sweet run with the A64 architecture. I've enjoyed processors from both and the competition is certainly great for the consumer. Long may they both duel! :)

I have been an AMD guy forever, untill my current c2d rig. The last thing AMD ATI needs is more bad press or more delays. They are so far behind INtel/Nvidia, they need to pick up the pace.

Maybe we can get some full speed chips instead of just filler product. It seems like it would be better to have a kick ass product then a half ass product just to have something out. Then again I said the same thing for the ATI 2900 series.....

hopefully intel doesn't sleep just because AMD is falling a bit behind.

So an anonymous unnamed mysterious source says something that AMD says isn't true about their own production of chips and this is considered news? Beyond that it is believed to be true by fellow [H] members?

Intel's "tick-tock" development schedule will ensure AMD's pain for years to come. Conroe was tick, Penryn is tock. Nehalem is tick, ...

Remember kids, it is only a rumor at the moment. Let's not start screaming the sky is falling yet.

So Intel got sick of AMD kicking is ass for the last 5 years and finally released something Intel Zealots would buy without being ashamed...

I have owned processors from both of these big guys. I currently have a AMD FX 53, saving up to do my whole system rebuild at once (going C2D)... I will always go with the best company product out there at the time of my purchase...

I will gladly say, even the guys on top I route for when they continue to advance with their architecture... And yet I love to have hope and moral support for the losing company...

Either way... Rumor or not, AMD / ATi has been producing more good lies than good products it seems... But that will only hold true if their new processor architecture eats the dust of their competition just as ATi's 2900 has...
