AMD or Intel?

what would you use for a high-end Ded. Server... intel or Pentium processor?

Ditto. If you're going to be running a game server off it, then I would most likely go with an AMD A64 setup. If you're doing graphics/video stuff then I would stay Intel. Both are good, and each have their advantages based on the intended use.

I would use a dual xeon for a server but thats me, for genral use amd or intel doesnt matter, not a drastic differance.

hmm, between an intel and a pentium, id definetly go with an intel.

it is to run my main site (search engine). I can have both servers with the following spec.

intel or AMD CPU
2GB PC3200 RAM
2 x 120GB SATA Drive
OS Linux
(other network and NOC config. not important for this theard)



or (but this is more expensive)
Dual Xeon 3.06GHz
1GB PC3200 RAM
2x 120GB SATA Drive
OS Linux

Isn't that overkill hardrive wise, 2x120gb for a server?

well for that use deffo the dual xeon..even if u find a slower processor would guarantie u a great stability and speed, cause thats what u want after all...
Game server---------AMD64 all the way
