AMD or INTEL ?

am going to built a new computer. My first question is.

1. AMD or INTEL?

2. AM2 or CONROE ? or Wait?

3. AMD Which Motherboard + Processor AM2 ?

4. INTEL Which Motherboard + Processor ?


Questions might looks funny, but i am trying to figure out that should i wait for CONROE or Buy AM2 or Wait for 4X4 AMD?

If INTEL then which motherboard will be excellent for CONROE, and runs with any dual core intel right now?

I'll tell you what I tell everyone I know who asks what to purchase. Which brand do you prefer? Why do I ask this? Because this choice here pretty much determines other factors, like the video cards. nVidia is choice chipset for AMD, so nVidia cards are choice if you want or might upgrade to SLI in the future. By the same token, if you're buying Intel you'll more than likely want an Intel chipset and nVidia will not allow SLI on anything but a nVidia chipset so ATI is the card of choice.

How long do you intend for this system to last? The computer I'm typing on right now is over three years old. It's a 2.4C northy, and honestly it still does pretty well in everything. It's taken this long for me to believe I'll see a big enough increase over what this one can do (overclocked) to justify upgrading. That and the lack of AGP video cards.

Wait and watch the reviews. Watch for what you're looking for in terms of stability and overclocking. These boards have just hit the market. Taking the time to make the right choice now ensures you get the most life out of the computer that you can. Rushing the purchase now might mean you purchase another motherboard soooner than you should need to.

Same thing. There is only one motherboard out right now that supports Conroe and I have found no one who will guarantee me I can get one if I order now. Wait, let them hit the market in late June or early July and watch the reviews.

IMO the 4x4 is a gimmick release. As a home user and gamer you're not really going to get any noticable benefit from running two dual-core cpus. The extra money spent there would be better spent on a better video card, larger monitor or something.

Since this is your first build yourself, take your time. Choose each part of your system with care, making the choice yourself and not simply because site A or forum poster B said this brand/model was best. Choose what you prefer and you'll be happy with the results you get.

2. Wait for Conroe (or woodcrest if you want dual sockets)

3. Does't apply.

4. Either wait for 965 chipsets (meant for Conroe) or Intel BadAxe Rev. 304 (garaunteed to work with Conroe)
 
But this memory will definately works with CONROE right or AMD, Which one should i buy with this motherboard and CPU
