AMD Phenom(TM) X4 965 quad-core processor [3.4GHz, 2MB L2 + 6MB L3 shared, up to 4000MHz]

vs.

AMD Phenom(TM) II X6 1055T six-core processor [2.8GHz, 3MB L2 + 6MB L3 shared, up to 4000MHz]

With the 6MB L3 shared on both chips, will I see a big difference between these two?

the x6 will do better in heavily threaded apps like handbrake. However for gaming the 965 is a better bet IMO.

The previous poster is correct, but if you are thinking of doing any overclocking the 1055T would be a better choice. The addition of Lo-K dielectric material resulted in is less voltage leak, which means higher speeds on a lower voltage for the end-user. Just make sure your motherboard can deliver enough power.
