Can someone explain to me whats the difference between all these processors which are named as Venice,NewCastle and ThoroughBred....?

They are all nicknames for cores. Newcastle and Venice were nicknames for 64 bit cores. The newcastle core was for socket 754? (correct me if I'm wrong), and more recently, the venice for socket 939. Throughbred was for older socket A chips. There was Palomino, throughbred, ect. Personally, I have a Winchester core.
