AMD Geode Naked Folder

Probably unbeatable for performance to cost & power consumption. Those newer Geode NX's are mobile Athlons, and perform very well considering how they sip the juice.

Is their any benchmark data on these? They don't have SSE2 or SSE3 instructions on them either. It would be nice to know what is in the V6 cores for requirements to start building boxen for the future.

If I recall correctly a batch of these showed up a few years back. As it turned out many were defective out of the box and the ones that were not didn’t hold up to folding very well.

That’s not to say there haven’t been improvements but that isn’t much heat sink for 100% CPU usage on a 24/7 basis.

Considering it's a 14 watt part though the heatsink should be fine.

These sound interesting to me also. If no one else has tried one I might be able to get one in a month or so.

* the CPU hovers around 48°C while the BIOS is being looked at
* System Temperature stayed between 51°C and 53°C throughout all the testing
* after several hours of working with the system both the processor and the northbridge heatsink were too hot to touch for more than one or two seconds
* after a 3h "Torture Test" with Prime95 (using the "in-place FFTs" mode) the CPU temperature reached 63°C and both heatsinks were a tad hotter than before

from this review, it is not the GX1750 but the GX1500 but it may be usefull to you

150 bucks?

meh, i'd spend a few more and get a decent system with SSE, etc.
