So the 13.2 betas are out on Linux, and everything seems to run fine. HOWEVER - and this is a big issue - there's a STUPID overlay at the bottom of the screen that I can't seem to turn off. It has the AMD logo and says "Testing use only."

There's got to be a way to get rid of this? AMD - if you're listening - why on earth do you handle your Linux drivers differently than Windows (and I'm assuming Mac too)? Last time I checked, Windows users don't have the overlay that says "Testing use only." Yeah, we all know - this isn't an "official" release. It says so on your page. Seriously, it's always there, no matter what application I run.

Also, if you're going to go on a "AMD has always sucked on Linux" blah, blah, blah. Save it. Asides from the fact that the overlay is annoying; games, benchmarks, etc. - all work the way they should without any glitches or performance discrepancies.

So, does anyone know how to hide this blasted thing?

After some google searches, the answer is - no - you can't remove them unless you mess around with some programming code. Apparently doing so can brick your installation. For those of you who are wondering, I will NOT just be bitching about it in the forums. I'm actually going to submit a ticket, or email (or whatever they take) to AMD's driver team about this.
 
open the console window, type: sudo gedit /etc/ati/signature. once the file is open in gedit delete the text that is in the file and paste "9777c589791007f4aeef06c922ad54a2:ae59f5b9572136d99fdd36f0109d358fa643f2bd4a2644d9efbb4fe91a9f6590a145:f612f0b01f2565cd9bd834f8119b309bae11a1ed4a2661c49fdf3fad11986cc4f641f1ba1f2265909a8e34ff1699309bf211a7eb4d7662cd9f8e3faf14986d92f646f1bc" without quotes, make sure its all on one line and then save it and reboot

Edit: Depending on what distro you have, you may not have gedit installed, so you can replace gedit with whatever text editor your distro has (like nano or kate, or whatever) or you can install gedit at the command line with: sudo apt-get install gedit.

It is pretty fucking lame that its like this by default but it doesnt require any programming. Just paste some text in a file and save.

Dude thank you so much! Yes I totally agree with you. And with the fact that it's the BETA's that have the most improvement over everything (better memory controller code, etc that fix frame latency issues), I was NOT looking forward to having that stupid overlay at the bottom. Windows users don't have to put up with it, why should we? [/RANT]

Edit: I didn't have gedit, but I'm getting it. Hopefully this will fix the issue.
